MegaDRUM Midi Port 1 & 2!!

Postby angr77 » Tue Jan 06, 2015 11:35 pm

Hi!

One nice feature on the MD is the dual midi port implementation which is great for PC and MAC using MDM together with a DAW software at the same time.

The ports are equal and sends the same information on the two ports.

One problem I have seen in some DAW software's like Cubase or Logic - which default receives midi information on "ANY" port...and where you will get both ports information as one midi stream and you will see the midi information twice in your recording. No problem on a MAC or PC where you can select MD Midi port.

But on a Ipad/IPhone...and running DAW applikations like Garageband or Drum applications like Alesis DM-Touch...you can't select port...it is capturing on "ANY" port and receives the midi information twice.

My question is if it possible to switch off one of the ports in firmware?

Yes, it is possible to implement disabling/enabling one of the ports.

If that is the case this is something that I definitely would vote for to get implemented. :-)

I have for some weeks been working on my e-cajon (where the MD is a built in black box solution without buttons and display just a USB connector)

I have been running the MDCommander for iPad/iPhone against my e-cajon and it is working extremely good! It is only the last part with the dual midi stream...which generates problems in the sound generating softwares that keep this to be a really great solution!

Please check the latest firmware version. I will update MDM to support the new feature later today.

If you downloaded it already, please download it again, I replaced the latest version since I made a small mistake there.

Yes, they both are visible, but when MIDI2ForSysex is set to Yes, the second MIDI port doesn't transmit NoteOn/Off or any other messages except Sysex. So you can still use the second MIDI port with MDM but NoteOn/Off messages will be transmitted only via the first MIDI port.

Hi!

How do you switch off one of the Midi ports? I loaded the last version but I can't see any difference from 141203.

Sorry - did not see the post above...testing!!

Hi again!

I am guessing you need a new version of MDM to be able to switch it off?
I can't find the Midi2ForSysex checkbox...and I am guessing it is not set to default in FW because my MD is still giving double information using the last firmware.

I'm about to release a new MDM version to support this feature but you can still change it manually from the Menu. MIDI2ForSySex comes after CustomNamesEn in the Menu.
