velocity sensitive rim and sid stick hits for snare

Postby leadgtr7 » Wed Apr 29, 2015 5:11 pm

Hi All,
I was wondering if there is a way to set the rim piezo on a dual zone snare pad to trigger different notes based on how hard the hit is registered. I would like to be able to get a rim shot when the rim is struck hard and a side stick when the rim is struck lightly. Any help would be great!
thanks

I think a sound synth/VST is the proper place where it should be done and I believe many can do it.

I might be reading this wrongly but isn't that what the 3rd zone note is for?

koby drums - Triggera krigg/Bix - megadrum - Kontakt........... Samples from all and sundry.

It depends on how you read the question. I read the question literally, i.e., as I understand, if it's possible to get different drum sounds for different MIDI velocities from the same trigger. But it may very well be that the question was really about getting rim shot articulation from a pad. In that case yes, it should be 3rd zone configuration and MidPointWidth in particular.
