weird machingun Input-Signal without any Pad connected

Postby Spectre » Tue May 05, 2015 6:43 am

Hello Guys,

first of all a brief info: I bought the megadrum arm based ful kit from dmitri and built my own housing around it.

But after a while using it, I get some weired machinegun-like Input-Signals on Tom1 and Tom3.
Even when there isn't any Pad connected.

They start as a fast but gentle and fast rumbling and its getting louder oder the time.
Even if I unplug all pads, it continues with the fast rumbling or machinegun like triggers.

Sure I increased the Threshhold of these two inputs over 100 and the gain is at 0.
It still happens.

When I restart the megadrum, it is gone. And it only appears when the megadrum is running several minutes.
It never starts immediatly when I start the megadrum.

Have you any Idea?
Maybe I oversaw something in the configuration?

Greetings

1. Is it only these two inputs?
2. Do they trigger regardless of anything is connected to them or not?
3. Do they stop triggering if you disable them (set Note to 0)?

Nothing.
It doesn't matter if I leave the pads plugged in or not.

1. as far as I can see only on these two inputs.

2. Yes, they trigger like this, it there is anything connected or not. They even continue to this when I unplug everything. And it only stops if I restart (turn off and on) the megadrum. But it only starts after a few minutes after I turned on the device and ist starts atlow volume and its getting louder.
In the UV-Meters View I can clearly see, that these inputs getting a signal.

3. I didn't tried it, but I will try it. At the weekend I have enough time to try out.

Try to reflow the solder. Double check any connections that should go to ground. Post pictures if still problematic.

Sorry for not keeping you up to date.

The main machinegun triggering happens in the rim trigger of a tom.
So I turned the specific rim trigger of, by changing the note in megadrum.

I have other weird effect:
When I hit Tom1, I also get a Signal on Tom3 (Head and Rim).
But they are not physically connected.

maybe my next step could be to unplug the positional sensing board and try it again.

I'd thoroughly check the ground connections of the two misbehaving inputs.
If it ain't broken... fix it until it is.
