megadrum won't start

Postby grandpayum » Tue Jul 14, 2015 3:49 am

finally had a chance to play around with my megadrum minimal ST32 kit today and couldn't get it to boot. The only thing I've actually soldered to the board is a USB jack, everything else is socketed (buttons, encoders, LED, LCD, Midi). Checked all connections I've made and no shorts, +5.0v coming on usb pin 1/4 checked on the jack and the headers behind it. No activity on the device (LCD doesn't turn on, no LED activity). Using a macbook pro 15" retina shows nothing, MDM shows no difference whether it's plugged in or not and USB prober shows no activity when plugged in. Tried a 5v bench supply but again no activity. Also tried a second LCD and tested the LCD i bought for this on my other brain (built admirs from edrum.info ages ago) and they work as well as the pushbuttons. Seems to be isolated to the main board. Anything I can test that you can suggest? I'm at a loss bc the board appears to be getting correct voltage but appears to be completely dead.

only thing I could think is that I haven't connected input jacks yet but I didn't think that should matter? Pos. sense board is connected and associated jumper is on, boot_sel jumper is connecting pins 1 and 2. Any ideas? sent dmitri a PM but figured I'd poll the board as well.

I can only suspect that you did not connect a power switch to the board. You must not change boot_sel jumper and it must remain in a position as it came.

Oh my gosh I'm so dumb! That is embarrassing. I cannot believe I overlooked that!

Thanks!

Edit: sure enough, that fixed it. Working great now, thanks again!
