Yes.

Or is the LED an auxillary circuit with no real indication of the microcontroller receiving signal from the input circuit?

The MIDI LED blinking means that MegaDrum is either sending or receiving MIDI data. If it's blinking when receiving MIDI data and you want MegaDrum to pass it through you just need to enable MIDI Thru.

Im getting the same issue. In my case my Alesis controlpad midi out is connected to MD midi in and there is no signal coming through into MD. Checked my cable.

Is MIDI LED blinking when you send MIDI data from the Alesis controlpad?

If you don't send MIDI data from the control pad to MegaDrum but the MIDI LED is blinking may be cause by many things, e.g. (but not limited to):
1. HiHat pedal is set as F.Contr and it is moving
2. HiHat pedal is not set correctly so MegaDrum may thin that the pedal is moving.
3. Threshold on some inputs is set too low causing them to false trigger.

sorted the glowing midi light, cut all USB midi going to MD in copperlan for now. Just to test only midi out from alesis to midi in of MD.

Still no light on MD when hitting controlpad. Midi light on controlpad is lighting up. I have individually tested to check alesis is outputting midi

Do you have any other MIDI device with MIDI Out? It may be caused by MIDI Out level from the control pad lower then MegaDrum expected MIDI In level. As I described it in http://www.megadrum.info/forums/viewtop ... f=4&t=2240 I tested it with Novation Remote 25 (and of course another MegaDrum) MIDI Out.

After all, there was a firmware bug in STM32F205 version which I just fixed and released a new version. Please upgrade to the latest firmware version from http://www.megadrum.info/forums/viewtop ... f=3&t=1075 and let me know how it goes.
