Imitating Roland VH-12 "closed pressure sensitivity"

I'm sure you've heard about the functionality of the Roland VH-12 pedal which is described in the manual like this:

When you strike the hi-hat while pressing on the pedal with the hi-hat closed, you can then change the closed tone in response to the pressure you place on the pedal.

I have three questions:

1. Do you know any VST plugin which can make use of this functionality? A VST which can vary the hi-hat sound between "closed" and "tightly closed"?
2. If there is such a VST, what MIDI messages does it use for this functionality? MIDI CC between "open" and "normally closed" and then MIDI Aftertouch between "closed" and "tightly closed"?
3. What would be the hardware requirements? I will get my Megadrum next week and I plan to build a DIY hi-hat with a Yamaha PCY-135 and a hall effect sensor. Is it enough? Or will I need a separate sensor for the "pressure" detection? Also, how shall I set-up Megadrum to make this work?

If you are using this functionality today with Megadrum and a VST, please share your experience with me/us. I would be really interested.

Not as far as I know. Whilst it may be nice to have it's not something you would use everyday so therefore I would assume devs would prefer to spend their sample allowance on more popular artics.
I also don't see the hall effect sensor measuring pressure (or at least a single one)

Im getting that now from my goedrum hhat controller. Its just the last few cc4 from 7-0 or similar and it is a matter of tightening the hhat clamp at rhe right spot.

Superior drummer is what im using to utilize it. Though it may not have the degree of tightness you are looking for. The bell on ulta tight gives an extra level of tightness.

Note that im currently ascertaining if the goedrum controller has weird wiring since i have to have its jack pulled half way out. But then it works normally.

Also how are you mounting the pcy135? Because i tried using it on a hhat stand and it didnt play nicely with the clamp thread tube and otherbits so that it was cusioned all round and not plastic/rubber rubbing on thread.

Put more simply I think the pcy135 hole is fine for standard cymbal mount rods but too small for hhat clutch/clamp without forging a thread through the hole.

There may be other ways of clamping on to the hhat rod/shaft however.

Actually, I'm still building my e-drum set. Nothing is working, yet. My Megadrum will arrive next week and I plan buying a PCY-135 in the coming days.
What you wrote about CC4 is actually the simplest solution. I hoped that someone will confirm it will work like that. This way probably a single Hall sensor will be enough, and I will simply use the lower part (0-7) of the full (0-127) controller range for the "tightly closed" sound. Did I understand you correctly, bcslam?
I see you have a PCY-135. Could you please tell me what is diameter of the hole in millimeters? After reading your post I got a little nervous that it will not fit my hi-hat clutch. Up to now I took it for granted that the hole will be big enough.

Sorry my mistake, I havent had access to the pcy135 for a few days. The hole is big enough but the plastic sleeve it comes with isnt made for a clutch so you will need another. Somehow for me with my parts I wasnt able to stop the thread of the clutch knocking the plastic around the hole. One sleeve was too short, the other was too big. With the right sleeve/clutch combo it will work. The L rod mechanism that stops it from revolving didnt clamp onto my hihat shaft either, it required at least 8mm I think.
