There is one element of this that may have been over looked and that is cost. You only have to look at the price of a Roland system, say between 2 and a half to 5 thousand pounds for a three tom three cymbal set. MD remember costs less than a single Roland Tom!!

The Roland is plug and play and pretty, however the overall effect i.e a drum sound from a pair of headphones or speakers is not better than my 4 tom 6 cymbal cow bell set, which although is a bit heath robinson in looks and homemade but it sounds like an accoutic set to me. If I have spent £500.00 I would be suprised, ok the learning curve is steep, however that was part of the fun.

Dmitri may want the MD to be a commercial sucesss and see them flying out the door but that is a whole different ball game. Perhaps people forget that he does this in his spare time with a few regulars testing and advising. If I had one request though it would be to make MDM a little more user friendly for those of us who do not fully understand the whole process.

This one is completely not true. MegaDrum doesn't cut analogue signal and doesn't loose dynamics. I compared it myself with a borrowed TD12.

Other points are a matter of opinions.

Hi!

Dmitri always surprises with new features on the MD platform. (Hard to compete with..check the Changelog friends) The evolution during the 2 last years and the move to ARM-based CPU's in the system have made my e-drum life a lot easier.

Now with the color TFT and a nice gui...left me with the same kind of feelings as when I first found the system on the net and started my MD journey. Extremely excited!

We have tried through the years to also bring down the complexity...one big step was when we got our own settings in Addictive Drums 2 and also introduced the default, basic and advanced settings in the MD ROM.

If I could wish for one feature...I am dreaming of a wizard that takes the user through the certain steps and automatically configures an e-drum...just as functions like hilevelauto do...measure...ready!

Best Regards

Only one order left with the colour LCD for the same price as with the Standard LCD.

All gone now.

Dmitri,
I think this is a great option! As I have read through this thread, I have a few questions (they may have been answered, and I just didn't see it).
1. Do you have a MFG PN that you used for the first 5 displays? ( I like the one you show in the video)
2. Regarding the firmware. As I understand the conversation, the latest firmware shown on the main page supports this new feature or is it located somewhere else on the website.
3. Will you be updating the user manual with any new pinouts and schematics referencing the new display?
4. Can the display be configured for different colors?
Thanks for all the work you have put into this project. I think there are some individuals who can easily take for granted the amount of time and effort a design like this involves.

You can use any ST7735 based LCD. Plenty on Ebay.

Firmware is in the same place and all new STM32d firmware support this LCD.

It's already updated.

4. Can the display be configured for different colors?

Not at the moment.

Hi!
I have implemented the LCD Color display in my MD. Works great! However - I am also looking for some kind of front frame(I don't think it is called this in english) for ST7735 to cover the LCD display and the areas around the screen to make my MD to look smooth.

Something like this: Image

Dmitri,
Thanks for the info.
The last question I have (forgive my ignorance), is 128x160 the max resolution?
I would like to use a slightly larger display 320 x 480. Is this possible with the current firmware?
Thanks

At the moment I have only 2 color LCDs left and I have a delivery delay for new LCDs. So once the 2 LCDs are gone there might be a delay in fulfilling MegaDrum orders. Normally I promise to fulfil orders within 2-4 days for kits and 7 days for modules but depending on the new LCDs delivery delay it may take up to 10-12 days. To compensate for longer waiting I offer a 5GBP discount (cost of the LCD) for orders placed between now and when the new LCDs arrive.
