hey forum,

i've been away for a while and currently redoing my megadrum setup.
megadrum manager advised me to update my firmware but i don't really know what file i need to pick since it's been so long and i forgot pretty much everything about it.

megadrum manager says that my MCU is "STM32F103RCT6". i got 32 inputs.

could somebody help me find the right firmware for my device?

thanks for reading and your time.

cheers
tim

All firmware files in the archive after version 20110410 have the following naming scheme:
megadrumppp_nn_yyyymmdd.bin
where
ppp - MCU type. STM32a - for STM32F103RBT6, STM32b - for STM32F103RCT6, STM32d - for STM32F205RCT6, STM32e - for STM32F205LITE, 644 - for Atmega644, 1284 - for Atmega1284
nn - Maximum number of inputs for the firmware.

So, you download the latest firmware archive and since MCU in you MegaDrum is STM32F103RCT6 you choose megadrumSTM32b_56_yyyymmdd.bin file from the archive.

I want to upgrade the firmware and I could not find if the settings stored in slots remain unaffected. Can someone inform me what to backup prior to the upgrade?

I also understood that firmware upgrading can be done from MDM or with the upgrade tool. Is there a preference?

Thank you for your responses.
Kind regards, Rob.

MD STM32F205RCT6 v3 (STM32d_56) full kit with PS addon board and 2.4" colour LCD, TD11, TD15, KD120, VH11, PD125x, PD120, PDX8, CY5, CY8, CY12R, PM-30, Steinberg UR22/44/816C.

Setting in slots are not guaranteed to stay between upgrades. Also, changing Global settings MaxInputs, ConfigNamesEn and CustomNamesEn may also invalidate saved settings in slots. You'd better keep your settings safe with MDM between upgrades and when changing above mentioned Global settings.
You can use MDM for the firmware upgrade. Upgrade tool is only to recover from a failed/interrupted firmware upgrade when MegaDrum firmware gets corrupted.
