MegaDrum - MacBook Pro/blem

Hello Everyone,

I experience some very strange stuff with the MegaDrum … or my MacBook Pro.

Running MainStage 3 on my late 2011 MacBook Pro 17", my MegaDrum plays automatically and random on its own - but only when the laptop is connected to power. When the MacBook is plugged out, and running from battery, the MegaDrum acts normally and stops playing on its own.

I don't know if this problem can be discussed here or not … I have no idea what to do.

Does it play on its own if connected to a standard (not macbook) PC?

I've connected the MegaDrum to my Big Mac (a Mac Pro) and everything seems to be fine. Could it be the MacBook's power supply? It's new. We're gonna need the power supply on stage so I'm out of ideas.

Yes, modified Simmons/Roland pads are connected.

I myself do most of my testing on a MacBook both on battery only and with a power supply (PS) connected. I've also had many PSs replaced over years(mostly due to power cables wear) and none of them introduced the problem you have.
Can you test it with another PS?

Modified Simmons, interesting. Is that the riot shield variety?

What are you using on Kontakt?

Drum samples created by myself.

Modified Simmons means actually Roland pads put in hexagonal Simmons bed. So we can have the hexagonal design on stage and the comfortable feel of the Roland pads at the same time.
