Hi Dmitri, does this screen have the same pinouts as the previous one, as in, can it be used as a direct replacement?

Yes, pinout on the MegaDrum board is the same, you will only need to place the jumper on pins 11 and 12 of the LCD connector for ili9340. Pinout on the LCD is of course different but you wire it according to the names of the pins not their numbers.

Ok thanks. One last question: could a larger-sized screen be used if it uses the same controller (ili9340) and resolution (240 x 320)?

Yes, why not but I'm not going to use LCDs larger then 2.2" since they will not fit modules I build.

It's to buy a screen myself and fit it to my module. I often find myself squinting at the screen trying to see the numbers on it and it would be great if I could use a larger one.

Would it be possible to add support for the ili9341 controller? After some reading around it seems that it's virtually identical to the ili9340, but the sizes of ili9341 screens (@ 240x320 resolution) go up to 3.2" (most at this size also have touchscreens, but I imagine you can just ignore that function). If you think it's possible let me know and I'll order one - and I'll gladly do whatever testing is necessary. These screens can be got really cheap, and the possibility for those of us who have built our own enclosures to add a screen of up to 3.2" would be fantastic. My eye (only have vision in one ;) ) would be very grateful too!

I think ili9341 is compatible with ili9340 so it should work ok.

Great! I found this:
Screen.png

Which is a 2.8" screen and seems to even have the pins in the same order as the 1.8" screen, so it should be a straight replacement (moving the jumper).

Cool!

I think the 1.8" is very tiny. (maybe I am too old..)
I have upgraded mine MegaDrum with it and it works great...but a 2.8" would have been fantastic!

Or will this 3.2" work? http://wholesaler.alibaba.com/product-d ... .55.BPOYaA

Have anybody seen a frame border for the 1,8"? I have been searching....but absolutly nobody has this.

Best Regards
