Drums keep firing on their own?

Postby TamaBeast » Sat Mar 12, 2016 10:33 pm

My megadrum 56 port unit has lights flashing on the front even when I have nothing plugged into the ports. When I open BFD3 the snare, one tom and ride keep firing over and over. The snare never stops and is very distorted. Any idea why the the unit keeps picking up signals even when drums aren't plugged into the unit and firing them in BFD3?

Hard to tell since no details are given. E.g. it could be that you have too low Thresholds or too high Gain on those inputs.

Tip no 1
MDM and your MD have to be in sync for the correct settings to work. The blue font that on MDM there gives you a visual indication that they, possibly, do not currently have the same settings.

Tip no 2
Put the 'midi log' on in MDM - It will make it easier to find out what is going on.

Do you have any leads plugged into the back of your Megadrum?

koby drums - Triggera krigg/Bix - megadrum - Kontakt........... Samples from all and sundry.

I have the snare plugged in and that's the only drum I'm trying to work with yet, multiple drums and cymbals keep firing. I've included an image of the snare settings with the module plugged in. Also, I am going to add two more images of the midi setting just so you can let me know if there's something I can do better.

1. Top left on MDM there's a button labelled 'get all'. Press that and after a while the blue font in MDM should turn black.

2. Take a screen shot of the setting.

3. Open the midi log and take a screen shot showing the midi notes hat are triggering.

Here's the info you need. The midi log shows the high hat pedal keeps firing on channel 10, even with every cable unplugged from the unit except the snare.

It means that the pedal High and Low levels are not set correctly. Snare has nothing to do with it.
Setup High and Low levels in the pedal settings and make sure you disable Auto Levels. Once done, post the screenshot of the pedal settings you came up with.

I've followed your suggestions and stopped the hi hat from false triggering right now. However, I have an awful delay on getting the sound out of my megadrum and it's impossible to play this way. I'm simply using the headphones out jack on my laptop. Is there a better way to get the sound out? The delay is not just with the sound, it's the trigger also, I can get one hit out of it but if I hit the head multiple times the delay is so bad there's no point in playing. Suggestions? I uploaded my snare settings for your review and advice.
