Hihat controller signal wobble?

Postby CarpathianBreed » Tue Apr 05, 2016 7:13 am

Hi,

I´m new to the forum and first I would like to thank everyone contributing. I´ve already found a lot of useful information on this board.

My issue here is my Hihat controller signal. I´ve succesfully managed to configure a hall effect sensor with a magnet to control my hihat. But what ever state the controller is held is wobbling up and down. Say, I set my controller to a value of approximately 80, I get constant wobble from around 76 to 86.

I don´t have my unit here right now but I´ll be posting the specific values and settings I have on, if needed. But right now I remember some:

LOW level 190
HIGH level 270
Alt input - YES
Automatic levels - NO

Thank you all in advance!

I also use a hall effect sensor but I have Alt input set to 'no' and it works fine. Have you tried that?
If it ain't broken... fix it until it is.

I have tried it. But just quickly. I haven´t had the time to mess around it too much yet. I read through the the documentation and forum and I noticed it´s usually set to NO.

I actually tried the assembly last week and it worked rather fine. But I didn´t save the configuration and when I started to dial it up again I got this problem. So I believe I´ve had it right the first time around. I will get on it later today and post the results.

Do you mean you keep getting CC 04 messages with vaules between 76 and 86? Did you try to adjust CC Reduction Level?

Yes, CC04 messages keep on coming. I haven´t tried CC reduction level adjusting yet. I first thought I´m not steady with my distance between the sensor but then noticed it occurred even with no strong magneting field present.

I will post my results here later today.

Here´s what I got:

I changed the Alt Input to NO and that gave me the results of state of the controlloer wobbling by 2. So if I set the controller to stay at 80 I get woble between 80 and 82. Which isn´t bad. Only thing that bothers me on this is the constant production of CC04 changes.

CC Reduction on 1 really did the job at clearing the signal so it doesn´t wobble. The resolution should still be pretty much OK since I´ve got the impression that most drum hosts have up to 10 states of hihat conroller. Correct me if I´m wrong.
