Tried on a 2nd computer:
There are 3 MIDI output ports available.
Output Port #1: Keystation Mini 32
Output Port #2: MegaDrum USB MIDI Port 1
Output Port #3: MegaDrum USB MIDI Port 2

Select an output port number for the firmware update (between 1 and 3):2

Opened MIDI Out port 2 .

SO, if there's a serial issue, how do I remedy that?

Only by repairing the main board.

Another possible cause may be that your MegaDrum is Atmega1284 based but you're trying to load Atmega644 firmware.

Sorry, this cannot be the cause since 20110216 was Atmega644 only.

Also, since you still have not described step-by-step exactly what you do as I advised, it may still be that you miss some steps or do them incorrectly. E.g. you may be choosing wrong frequency in step 6 or skipping steps 6 and 7 all together. Or in step 5 you press Enter when the instruction says not to do it.

i believe I have an ARM processor, which means I skip steps six and 7, correct?

so, after I choose the first midi port, i press enter.
i choose the 2nd and do NOT push enter.

(normally steps 6 and 7 would come here)

so, since I do not choose frequency, I can just push enter, correcy?

ARM processor? What made you think so? It is Atmega644.
