I checked for continity the D+ and D- from end of usb cable (the one that goes to the PC) to the leg of the pic. They are soldered correctly.

About the midi DIN5, it is not the same to connect pins 4 & 5 than 5 & 4. Pin 1 of megadrum board must be soldered/connected to... the left pin of the DIN connector or the right one?

If +5, Ground, D+ and D- correctly connected, all traces around PIC18F2550 are ok, resistors and capacitors values are correct and USB port is good than I'd presume that your PIC18F2550 is damaged.

If I had to program the PIC in "slow mode" to avoid the failure of the programming, maybe is this because the crystal is not exactly 12Mhz? Is there anyway to check its value? I only have a regular multimeter.

I really don't know. It was solved as half of the problems are solved, restarting windows, so it was windows fault. Yesterday I was dissapointed because megadrum wasn't detected and today I connected it again and it installed itself. Sometimes, when megadrum is connected, I hear that "usb disconnected" and "usb conected" sound that windows plays. Maybe I will have to look for some bad contact in the USB cable, that was the last thing I built.
