Variable controllers come in two types of polarity:
1. Roland polarity: signal on the tip, power on the ring.
2. Yamaha polarity: signal on the ring, power on the tip.

You have to make sure to wire HiHat controller jack according to polarity of your HiHat pedal. I don't know polarity of your controller, you have to find it out.

midi is still not working.

tried with the hi-hat controller on both inputs ( when using the high input i set it to altin) using a trs jack that i know works as i tested it with a multimeter.
tried with a piezo that i know works(tested with multimeter and was registering when i was tapping it). still not registering midi in on the computer. the red light or the vu meter in MD isn't showing any activity either.

I tested every single jack input against the pins on the board and it's all connected, to the right pins. everything is grounded. i was very thorough.

any body have any suggestions?

It already showed you the first time the the main board is fine - even very weak signals through your body produce triggering and MIDI signal.

only for half the inputs yeah that is correct. but how is this helping me figure out what my problem is`?, if i have checked every single input jack by touching the top of the jack input and checking it on the board using a multimeter to check for continuity make sure it's connected to the correct pin and also made sure the grounding is unbroken and conected at the right place.

i was hoping for some kind of help. guess i'll i have to take it to an electrical engineer to help me figure out what's wrong

If touching the pins produces a signal (half of them don't because they're probably disabled by default) then the problem is either the piezo or the wiring. Post pictures/diagram showing exactly how you've wired the piezo.
If it ain't broken... fix it until it is.

will do that later, i did a little testing without a jack plugged in the there is continuity in the grounding. but when plugging a jack it all of a sudden there is no continuity or there is but not on the pins on the board. so what is creating the short? any ideas?

People are more than happy to help but as I'm sure you'll apreciate, it is very difficult to offer advice on something, neither I, nor anyone else, can see.

koby drums - Triggera krigg/Bix - megadrum - Kontakt........... Samples from all and sundry.
