It looks like you have a communication problem between USB PIC MCU and Atmega MCU on the board.

The board is a two layer all in one PCB V2.8 by Synthex. Everything on the board looks normal. What else could be done?
Build a new one?

It can also be crystals frequency mis-match but I understand the board was working fine before so I presume it can be only PIC<->Atmega communication problem on the board.

I will order arm based lite kit in the future and use this one as is for simpler projects. It still works as a midi trigger module, just can't update or work with MDManager. Thank you dmitri for your time.

I purchased megadrum maybe 2 years ago and have not been able to get it to work. I can get to step 4 with a command line and type in the correct information for windows "mdfwupdate.exe megadrumSTM32d_56_20181218.bin" and cannot get to step 5. It says mdfwupdate.exe is not an operable program or batch file.

You're not running the command from the directory where mdfwupdate.exe is located.

To use this procedure...

Here is description of the procedure
1. Download and ...

10. When update has finished, the utility will show...
Code:...

Transferring.. 100% done.
MegaDrum updated successfully.

and MegaDrum will reboot and will start with new firmware.

I'm using an ARM unit, STM32d.

FX and cmd line did not work for me when doing the firmware upgrade. After cmd line the LCD face still says "FwSUpdaterSTM32d StartUpdateOnPC"

Have you tried to connect to the other USB port?

Hopefully it was a fluke. I've had to try a few times before, but I would recommend connecting to Manager first, and select Get All. This will sync Manager with MegaDrum to and the text should be black, not blue like on your screenshot. If Manager is synced, and you have green lights in Manager, you should be able to update the firmware....
