New User saying Hello

Just bought a top of the line MegaDrum 56 from Dmitri and looking forward to its arrival. Had planned to build from kit but the price for a pre-built unit was too good to pass up. Had checked out specs for Roland, etc., but yearned for more control of the settings... primarily the Hi Hat. I have a VH-11 hat I'm hoping to obtain good articulation with. It's been frustrating working with inferior controllers and modules where the hats are concerned. Bought an Alesis kit a while back, played it for an hour or two and had no further use for it. Felt like a toy and played like one. Just recently did the A-to-E thing with a Tama kit and have high hopes for the MegaDrum unit.

Been following this forum for a year or so and hoping to contribute and collaborate. I'm aware there is a methodical settings procedure, so I'm thankful Dmitri and this forum are here for those inevitable times help may be needed. Glad to be among your ranks.

Hi everybody,

instead of opening up a new thread, I thought I'd just add my posting to this one, as it is for the same matter - i just wanted to say hello as I just joined the forum.
So my name is Denis, age 34, living in France (sorry...), drummer for 25+ years, hifi, electronics and DIY enthousiast just to sum it up.

To get straight to the point, up until now I really didn't like electronic drums that much. I never owned one, but tested quite a few over the past 2 decades and well, not even the most expensive (commercial) ones came even close to my custom acoustic drumset. But of course that's just my personal opinion. On the other hand, of course, e-drums offer more flexibility, that is undeniable.

Long story short, I still have my first (beginner) drumset stored in the attic, and I was looking to make something useful out of it. A couple weeks ago, a friend of mine (guitar player) showed me his new computer-based setup he uses for practicing/recording, and I realized that recently, computer-aided music made a huge step ahead. So I was thinking to convert that old drumset to an e-drum practice-kit. After a quick search for old (crappy) edrum modules and then midi interfaces, I found this megadrum project. Up until now, I had no idea that there were some skilled electronic freak drummers out there, crazy enough to create such a huge project, and who would then offer this piece of engineering it as DIY kits.... respect!

I still haven't decided about which model I'm gonna build, and I will certainly have some questions, but I'm currently reading through he forum, I'm pretty sure I'll find answers to most of my questions there already!
