MD midi inactive after loading config with MD front controls

Postby Rovalo » Wed Oct 16, 2019 9:03 pm

Hello Dmitri,

I encounter a strange issue with MD.

Since I need the 2 midi ports to send MD midi to 2 applications, I cannot use MDMFX to load different configs from MD ROM.

So I looked up how to load configs using the rotary knobs and now configs are quickly selected and loaded.

However, after loading a config MD becomes midi notes inactive, MD screen does not show trigger activity and also MDMFX does not show midi activity.

MD does not freeze, I can still scroll through the menu. Only when I reboot MD or re-open midi from MDMFX, midi is active again.

This manually loading of presets is the perfect solution for my use, can you pls assist to solve this issue? Thank you in advance!

Can you load this config from MegaDrum to MDMFX, save/zip and post it here?

Hello Dmitri,

Sure, please find the config file attached.

The behaviour is the same for all slots.

Let me know if I should upload/test something else.

I appreciate your trouble to fix this.

Hm,

Loaded the config into MegaDrum and saved to slot 1. Then powered cycled and loaded the config from slot 1 using front panel controls. It still triggers ok after that.
Am I missing something else to reproduce the issue?

Hello Dmitri,

Do you use the same MD configuration as I have, so with the 1.8” colour display?

I will double check it again.
Kind regards, Rob.

I tested it with 2.4 LCD but the LCD type should not have any affect here.

OK, I will do some more tests to get a better understanding.

One thing I see is the following.
- AutoLoadConf has always been set to Yes;
- Config A (e.g.) is loaded, MDMFX and MD display show Config A;
- Loading Config B using MDMFX;
- Config B is loaded, MDMFX and MD display show Config B;
- Power cycle MD;
- MD shows previous Config A loaded, that should be Config B since AutoLoadConf set to Yes?
- MDMFX midi close/midi reopen, MDMFX cannot retrieve MD settings with GetAll, very short sysex and fields with question marks;
- Close/restart MDMFX, open midi, GetAll retrieves MD settings, Config A loaded.

So on power cycle MD the last loaded config is not taken and MDMFX gets confused after loading a config.

Am I doing something wrong? Please help.
Kind regards, Rob.

You have to 'save to slot x' after sending the config from MDMFX to the module and before rebooting it. Otherwise that config isn't saved to memory and gets lost when you switch the module off.
If it ain't broken... fix it until it is.

Thank you for thinking with me.

In my below example both config A and config B are already saved configs in the non-volatile memory slots from MD.

So on MD startup config A is loaded from last used non-volatile memory slot and them I load config B from another non-volatile memory slot (preferably using the MD rotary knobs and not with MDMFX).

Do I need to re-save config B to its same non-volatile memory slot to have MD startup with config B after MD power cycle?
In that case, what is the difference between AutoLoadConfig Yes or No?

Or when I load a config from MD slot using the rotary knobs, do I have to exit the menu on MD first in order to have MD save that config as last loaded?
