3 zone cymbal support, Yamaha style. How many of you need it

3 zone cymbals, Yamaha style. Do you want me to add support for them in MegaDrum?

I have both MegaDrum and Yamaha cymbals, please do it.

I have Yamaha cymbal. Lack of Yamaha 3 zone cymbals support is a showstopper for building MegaDrum.

I have MegaDrum. If you do it, I'll buy 3 zone cymbals Yamaha style.

I have MegaDrum. I'll live happily without support for such cymbals.

If you do it, I will rebuild all my DIY cymbals to have the Yamaha 3zone design.

I have neither of them, only 2 (3 at most) persons have MegaDrum, your poll is stupid.

Ok,it works good. With some hard edge hits I get an edge note and inmediately after, a bow note. That was because I needed to increase bow threshold, wasn`t it? But anyway, it works like a charm, and it chokes all the sounds of the roland-like ride.

I have also re-tested the dual piezo tom problem to be sure it is solved. As I thought it the dualzone tom now works good and have a perfect separation between zones

Good work ;)

Good! I'm now going to post a new firmware with the changes (plus some more changes).

Hi dcho, if I have time I will try to translate it. You can start by using google translator meanwhile I don't translate it. I am now very busy programming a tool for megadrum ;)

You can use a soda can, aluminum sheeting/flashing, really any conductive material that is fairly rigid but still flexible. The design is the same as Hellfire's simple switch design as documented here: http://www.hellfiredrums.com/archives/67 If you happen to convert acoustic cymbals you can use the actual cymbal as 1/2 of the switch and further simplify it. Basically what's documented is two of these switches, one on the top surface of the edge, one on the top surface of the bell. I've only used them on the bottom surface of the edge as a choke switch but it should be completely effective as documented.

Here's basically the same thing (top mounted switch) documented clearly in English here: http://www.vdrums.com/forum/showthread. ... e+hellfire And the OP actually used an acoustic cymbal and made the switch blend in fairly well so it's not completely unsightly.

Will this work on the HIHAT as well to provide separate bell/bow/edge triggering? If so, will it provide at least two MIDI NOTE triggers per zone in relation to the hihat pedal data?

You can configure HiHat as 3 zone input but "built in" Half Open/Close notes will only be effective for bow/edge.
On the other hand if sampler software can properly process CC messages for a HiHat pedal, it may
properly process all three zones.
