Postby hartl0602 » Tue Nov 25, 2008 12:37 am

does any one know if the below part will work on the 2.5 all in one board...it appears that i inadvertently purchased a surface mount 100 ohm resistor...how do i mount it? can i mount it?

http://www.mouser.com/Search/ProductDet ... 0204-F-100

(edit: helps if i put the link in the message :) )

thanks,

I accidentally bought a surface mount 47uF and simply bent the surface mount leads down so they were effectively thru-hole and it worked without issue as far as mounting goes. Unsure if a surface mount resistor has the same type of bendable flush-mount leads or not. You can probably just buy a replacement from Radio Shack, that's likely a standard value resistor. Otherwise continue to build your MegaDrum and start a list of additional parts you need, then place another order from Mouser once you've got as much built as you can.

One issue you'll likely have trying to re-use the surface mount resistor is that the leads, if there is any, won't be long enough to reach the mounting holes in the 2.5 board. However, you could probably just solder some some copper wire to the resistor leads and run the wire to the board holes. Overall I think you should be able to use it with a little work.
