ISIS Proteus - Megadrum simulation

Postby andrex289 » Fri Dec 19, 2008 11:37 pm

I made a simulation of MegaDrum in Isis Proteus from Labcenter Electronics. There is some problem in the simulation..... The lcd doesnt work!!! I dont know why.... It shows strange ASCII symbols. I think maybe Proteus is overcharged or something its wrong with the VSM models or i made a mistake(clock problems between atmega and lcd??)... I hope there is someone that could help me, and help the MegaDrum community for those who want add some new features to megadrum in a easy way with this software.

I modify the original schematic to work with just one rotary encoder with switch, add just some resistors, transistors, one jk flip-flop and leds. Even tough i use transistors i think i could be done with some logic gates.

The simulation file and pictures are attached ;) .

It seems like you don't trust that Megadrum works very well

What features do you want to add with the simulation?

Hi elrules, yes i do trust megadrum should work fantastic. I made the simulation because im working on a diferent PCB to fix on a 19" rack that im desining. The image file of front and back sides are attached and are not finished yet.

Hi dmitri, i would like to work on a programable metronome.... The idea is simple, but implement it... is not.

You configure a file on some java interface that will have information about all timing of certain song and how should megadrum behave on each beat of the song so you can program megadrum to change all the midi messages(would need your help here dmitri) on a specific beat or simply change to another megadrum patch on real time along with the song you are playing live.

This should be great for drummers who want get different sounds from a trigger during one song and want the sound to change automaticaly on certain beat. The trigger could be programmed to send midi CC messages to a VST too. The drummer just have to play the file he had created for that song, a count down starts and all the band just follow the metronome that the drummer is listening on a hearphone connected to megadrum.

Is some interested in working on this?? The proyect would be fully hardware and software open source. What do you think dmitri if a thread or topic is created for this project? if there are many people who want to join i would feel very motivated. We could make megadrum even better in a few months.

I havent introduce me.... My name is Victor Andres. I am electronic engineer and a part-time musician. I have work with java for 3 years now, and for me is a great program language. I also work with pascal, c, assembler, and basic on software side. For microcontroller and microprocessor side i have work with c, and assembler.

Thanks dmitri for giving birth megadrum!!!!!!

Soon I will release the NetBeans project of Megadrum Config Tool. Maybe you can find it interesting to start your own project about the metronome.

I think all you say can be done yet. You can change megadrum drummaps if you press up or down keys. Just make a connector in the box that goes to the up/down connectors and connect there two switch pedals. With that pedals then you can on the fly change megadrum drummaps to play some interesting live performances

Yes, I know. But that its something that a drummer can't do when both legs are busy. The idea is make it automatically at certain point of a song.
