Hi everybody!
I've some problems I really can't solve... Now, I built the digital and analogue boards (not the all-in-one kit) and I'm doing some *experiments* to test all the inputs... I can't understand where the HiHat Pedal and "cymbal" have to be connected... I mean, in the Dmitri schematics pins 1-3,5,6 on the 40pin *IDE* connector are labeled ad "HiHat Pedal ring/ HiHat Ring / HH Alternative tip / HH Pedal tip / HH tip"... but... I don't know what does it means "ring"and "tip"!
Can somebody (Dmitri?) explain me how shuold I connect, for example, a switch pedal or a variable pedal and where shuold I connect the piezo of the HH top cymbal?
Again I don't understand the difference between "bow", "edge", "ring", "head" etc... can you please explain in a detailed way where those zones are on a pad/cymbal? I know the translation of those words in my language but I don't know what's the meaning or the difference, I just can figure out... It would be nice to have a graphical example of the displacement and eventually the uses of those zones...
I shuold have say before that I'm not a drummer (not yet ) but I'd like to make something at least decent to begin.
Finally, let's suppose that I barely understood what edge and bow are, I think I managed to build a dual-zone cymbal with no mechanical cross-talking between the two piezos... If I had understood something, the edge is the extreme zone on the cymbal (the edge! ) and the bow is the "internal" "hat-like" part where the cymbal is fixed to his stand, right? Well, when I hit the bow or the edge there no cross-talking even considering they're very close eachother. I think it could be interesting but now I've no photos to show you... I'll explain/show you this and my progress in the next topic(s) I'll post within a few days....
I feel so stupid posting question like this and hope that somebody else has my doubts so this post could be helpfull to other as to me...
By now I thank you all for the support in anticipation!
Bye!
Stefano.
