Toontrack Solo sees MD - MD Config Tool does not...

Postby ole_hansen » Sun Jan 25, 2009 5:47 pm

i haven't tried hooking up any drums to it yet.
but my Mac sees the MD on the USB input - but the MD config tool doesn't... ?
i doesn't let me select anything but the standard midi in & out.

plus - what happens to the LCD if there's no R-lcd added?
if it's possible to "burn it"/damage it - i think i just did that :(

edit:
oh yeah, i bought the full v.2.8kit from Synthex - so the chips should be correctly programmed.

I guess you'll ask this question in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=400

I guess you just won't have back light on the LCD without R-lcd.

well even if i solder in the 47 or 470 resistor, the LCD still won't light up.

and i'm using the MD Config Tool for mac (the file called "install.jlnp" - the JAVA version).

any ideas?

For the LCD, you can use for the "R lcd" :
- A 100 ohms resistor for the White / Blue LCD
- A 470 ohms resistor for the Blue / Black LCD
- A 47 ohms or no resistor for the green / Black LCD

yes. i chose the blue/black LCD, but when putting in the 470ohm resistor - nothing happens.

and the MD is still only readable by Toontrack Solo and BFD2
not the MegaDrum Config Tool.

Do you have 5 volts between the pin 15 and the pin 16 from the LCD connector ?

And what do you mean by "nothing happens"? Cannot see anything on the LCD? Can see some characters/symbols but without the back light? Can see only black squares in the top raw but again without the back light? Be more precise.

nothing is shown on the lcd.
it looks just like it does when the power is off or the LCD is unplugged.

What are voltages between pins 1 and 2 of the LCD?
What is the voltage between pins 1 and 3?
And Synthex already asked, what is the voltage between pins 15 and 16?
Is the LCD backlit type at all?

i will have to check the voltages between those pins tomorrow (don't have my multimeter here).

but my real problem is that i can't get the MD to work in anything.
as stated BFD2 etc.etc. recognizes the MegaDrum, but the Midi LED isn't lightning up in any program (when MD is set to both midi-in and midi-out).

i don't have to hook up any of the ICSP cables (ICSP Atmega32 & 18F2550) or the "EXT" or "Encoders" input to make it work right?
i'm kinda guessing that for the folk who want to program the chips themselves(?).
