Just wanted to return to this thread for some updates.
I replaced most of my various value voltage dividers (always used two of the same resistor, but was using different values across different pairs) with 4.7K ohm resistors across the board except for the kick and I'm very happy. I'm finding now as well that my ride and hi hats can also use a bit of attenuation. Not sure why different values of resistors mattered but anyways. I'm very glad I found some resistors for voltage dividers that work well so that I don't have to go and install 32 pots!
Also, the samples being used made a huge difference with hot spots and playability. Some tom samples just sucked and I couldn't get anything great of out them. Now I'm using the big fat Vistalite kit from the BFD Deluxe expansion and it's fantastic, I am using a different snare though as I don't quite get the perfect feel out of the snare with the Vistalite kit. High levels are below 800 on all kit pieces now but not so low that it sucks the dynamic range out of my kit. I still have to use "all gains low" however.
Had a great jam last night that started off with some buggered settings here an there but by the end of the 2.5 hours, I worked nearly almost everything out. Ah, success!
Next step? Maybe a live jam video for demonstration purposes?
MegaDrum just keeps getting better and better!
