No, but since I wouldn't be able to get my hands on a meter for a few days, I figured it couldn't hurt

Anyway, Now I have an analog meter. My question is this, am I setting it to DCV or ACV, and what range? Also when you say to test pins 14 and 20, an I supposed to put the black at on and the red at another? or am I just connecting the black to a ground and then the red to 14, and then 20?

Did somebody advise you to re-solder both ICs?

I'll have to pick up a meter tomorrow and test it with that. I just don't get how it worked fine until I replaced that left button.

DC, 10V-20V range depending on a meter.

The black to a ground and the red to a pin you need to measure.

here's what I picked up
Can I put the black to the ground of the push buttons? or does it have to be a ground on the board

sorry, just realized the image is backwards, but I think you can make it out. I'm assuming I'll be using the 2.5 or 50? setting?

Voltage can be up to 5V. Being an analogue meter it may be quite imprecise at 50V range but you may try.
You should check voltages against the ground on the board.

yeah not getting any reading at all on the 50 setting checking Anything at all on the entire board. The only way I get any reading at all is to set the multimeter to 1kohm in which case the meter is pinned when i put the ground to pin 5 on the keyboard connector which should be ground and I put the red to the pins you specified. If I can't use this pin 5 on the keyboard connecter on the board, what else would you suggest I use for a ground on the board?

I'll return the analog meter and try and find a digital meter

This meter is really not up to the task.
NEVER EVER measure resistance on any powered electrical device! This is what you did when you set the meter to 1kOhm. You may damage both.
Btw, if you disconnect all the buttons from the board, does the LCD still stay dead?

yes, lcd stays blank with buttons and power switch disconnected. The lcd lights up, just nothing displayed
I didn't have the usb connected when I checked using the 1kohm setting.
