Question for anybody who built their own enclosure.

What size standoff did you use for the LCD?
Which enclosure would you recommend?

I have a RadioShack 6X8X3, but I don't like the way it is configured on the inside. Has too many inner pillars along the side walls that get in the way when cutting out for the LCD and buttons etc.

I'm not sure of the exact dimensions of mine, but I've really had to be crafty with getting everything mounted because it wasn't as big as it should be. If you know the outside diameter of your 1/4" jacks, I'd make sure they have atleast 10mm of space between each other, and 10mm space between the first/last ones and the end of the case. Because of the inside corner pillars in mine, I've had to remove the USB port, and re-solder it with wires so I can attach it to another part of the face.

here's my concern. When I had all the components in a plastic enclosure everything seemed stable. Now I've moved everything into an aluminum rackmount enclosure, and I'm wondering if I may now introduce any grounding issues since everything is now being mounted to metal instead of plastic.

I really highly doubt you'd have any ground issues. Unless your actually having problems? If it ain't broke don't fix it

I have had some strange things going on. Like while I'm unplugging one pad and connecting the cables to other pads, I"ll sometimes get strange letters going across the lcd's meter display. And yesterday the MD rebooted twice while pressing in the ribbon cable to the inputs, but that could be the board.

Once everything is screwed in and left alone I think it will be fine.

Are you powering off USB or are you using a stand alone PSU?

I have a power button installed, getting power from laptop over usb

Hmm, that's pretty strange. Check and make sure none of the solder points are making contact with the metal chassis is about the only thing I could think of.

yeah that's all fine, but today I had to reload the firmware again cause it suddenly started booting to a blank screen but I could boot holding the lft button into the FW loader
