megadrum and midi port: no sound!

Postby lidel » Sat Mar 28, 2009 9:58 pm

i have this question: i've a megadrum correctly detected by windows xp sp3, i have a midi usb converter, i use mini host 1.64 with superior addictive and ezdrummer, asio4all loaded, and i don't hear sound if i hit my e.-drum (alesis dm5 with 2 cymbals dual trigger DIY). in the mini host screen i clicked anything that's present on the voice midi output-input. which voices have i to choose on the megadrum menu to hear something? i repeat:
megadrum connected to the notebook by midi usb converter and i use a headphone.thanks for helping me.
ps: before i had a dm5 sound module and everything worked.

Since your LCD is flashing and doesn't show anything than most likely the board is not working properly. In that case there is no way you can get any sane MIDI signal from it. You need to find a problem in the board.

Wat about your led.

Well first check shorts, bad/wrong wiring, bad soldering, wrong component and etc. 99% time this is only problem. I can guarantee. For me it is always turned out to one those.

Can your windows detect megadrum as usb audio device?

If you cannot see LCD then how did you programmed Atmega32.

I think your problem could be reverse polarity. It could be possible. You could have connected your usb wrongly. Like you could swapped pins of your usb.

If it not one of then Dmitri can help. I am not expert electronic expert. Again 99% sure solution to your problem can be shorts, bad/wrong wiring, bad soldering, wrong components and etc. This turn mostly for me and my observation on forums.
Still I have bothered Dmitri But i dont know why? ;)

What jacks are you inserting which makes the LCD go bad?

I'm confused. You should solder these jacks, not insert them anywhere. Anyway, return to a state without these jacks. Does the problem go away as it was before 'inserting jacks'?
