Pad question about piezo to piezo

Postby ayd01 » Tue Apr 07, 2009 7:58 pm

Hello All,
I almost finished making of Md (thnx to specially to Syntex). Now I m in the making pads section. I will make my pads from plywood, mouse pad and a stuff like bottle cork.

I m very confused about the piezo issue. I found something on the net Keith Raper’s piezo to piezo at http://www.toontrack.com/forum/tm.aspx?m=35166.
Do I need to build all these boxes with resistors?? or natively MD is ready to connect piezo to piezo pads. I mean is it ok if I connect the main and aux piezo to stereo plug and then to MD? will I get two zone pad.

Thnx to all again

You only need to connect two piezos to a stereo jack without any additional circuits/boxes/resistors.

Hi Dimitri THnx for the quick response.

I m interested in another issue too. This 2 way piezo connection: Is it only used for getting two zone sound difference. Or is it also for choke capable cymbal or snare and a rimshot. May I use it to getting rimshot effect or chokable cymbal.
Regards

piezo/piezo pad is only for two zones and cross stick. If you need a choke you either use piezo/switch design or you will need the Keith Raper’s circuit with a piezo/piezo pad. I cannot comment on how good the Keith Raper’s circuit works for chokes and how good zones separation is as I did not test it myself.

If it is a dual zone piezo/switch cymbal/pad then you don't need any resistors.
