Megadrum32 buying from digikey.com

Hi all!
First of all, thank you to everybody for this incredible project... when I'll get to the end of this Passion I will find the right words to tell you how much I love you XD

For the moment I have a favour to ask you: I'm buying the components from digikey.com but I'm not sure I'm doing right. Could you please have the patience to check them? I think this work could be useful also for the “Buying Components” section in which you can easily add a “Digikey” column. I found that list really fundamental to find all the components needed and to compare them whit the specs given.

Capacitors
1uF x1 478-1835-ND
22pF x4 399-4220-ND
100nF x7 399-4329-ND
470nF x1 399-4415-ND

Diodes
LED x1 751-1131-ND
1N4148 x1 1N4148FS-ND
BAT85 x64 568-1617-1-ND

Resistors
I will buy them somewhere, it seems they don't sell few quantities

Inductors
1uH Help please. I can find it till 1mH, right?

74HC4851 x4 296-15741-5-ND
6N138 x1 160-1795-ND

IC sockets
DIL40 x1 3M5480-ND
DIL28 x1 3M5480-ND (300mil)
DIL16 x4 3M5475-ND (300mil)
DIL8 x1 3M5473-ND (300mil)

Connectors/headers
Pins array 36x1 x4 929400E-01-36-ND Male connectors for all the followings
8x2 x3 609-3364-ND In alternative to pin array
20x2 x1 MHC40K-ND In alternative to pin array
5x1 x3 |
4x1 x1 | 929400E-01-36-ND One to snap
6x1 x1 |
USB Type B x1 151-1081-ND

Sockets/jacks
8x2 x2 HKC16H-ND or C3AAS-1606G-ND
20x2 x1 HKC40H-ND
5x1 x3 A31027-ND
4x1 x1 A31026-ND
6x1 x1 A31021-ND
Is it possible to mount the cable after, right?
There are many features: closed end, polarizing key, strain relief, feed through, which one is to chose or to prefer?
3way jacks x17 Or they don't have them or they cost to much, I will use ebay
DIN5 x2

Controls
Buttons x4 So easy to understand so difficult to find... help
Rotary encoders x2
HH pedal switch

LCD
ebay

And the DB25 and DB9 port to program? May I grub one from an old printer? …

THANK YOU

The links in "Buying Components" section of the documentation are there for guidelines. I cannot include all online shops in the list.

I found that list really fundamental to find all the components needed and to compare them whit the specs given.

Capacitors
1uF x1 478-1835-ND
22pF x4 399-4220-ND
100nF x7 399-4329-ND
470nF x1 399-4415-ND

Diodes
LED x1 751-1131-ND
1N4148 x1 1N4148FS-ND
BAT85 x64 568-1617-1-ND

Resistors
I will buy them somewhere, it seems they don't sell few quantities

All of above is ok.

Inductors
1uH Help please. I can find it till 1mH, right?

This will do http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSea ... =M10137-ND

Crystals
16 MHz 300-8500-ND
12 MHz 300-8493-ND

ICs
Atmega324P ATMEGA324P-20PU-ND
PIC18F2550 PIC18F2550-I/SP-ND

Again, all of the above is ok.

4051 x4 MM74HC4051N-ND
74HC4851 x4 296-15741-5-ND

You need either 4051 or 74HC4851. Since you're buying from DigiKey I'd recommend to go with 74HC4851. In this case you can omit all 64 BAT85 diodes and 32 protection resistors connected directly to inputs of these MUX ICs.

6N138 x1 160-1795-ND

IC sockets
DIL40 x1 3M5480-ND
DIL28 x1 3M5480-ND (300mil)
DIL16 x4 3M5475-ND (300mil)
DIL8 x1 3M5473-ND (300mil)

Connectors/headers
Pins array 36x1 x4 929400E-01-36-ND Male connectors for all the followings
8x2 x3 609-3364-ND In alternative to pin array
20x2 x1 MHC40K-ND In alternative to pin array
5x1 x3 |
4x1 x1 | 929400E-01-36-ND One to snap
6x1 x1 |
USB Type B x1 151-1081-ND

Sockets/jacks
8x2 x2 HKC16H-ND or C3AAS-1606G-ND
20x2 x1 HKC40H-ND
5x1 x3 A31027-ND
4x1 x1 A31026-ND
6x1 x1 A31021-ND

All is ok above.

Is it possible to mount the cable after, right?
There are many features: closed end, polarizing key, strain relief, feed through, which one is to chose or to prefer?

I didn't get these two questions.

3way jacks x17 Or they don't have them or they cost to much, I will use ebay

Couldn't find cheap jacks at DigiKey either.

DIN5 x2

Controls
Buttons x4 So easy to understand so difficult to find... help

E.g. http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSea ... =EG2015-ND . Search for 'off-mom' at DigiKey and choose cheapest you like.

Rotary encoders x2

These are optional. http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSea ... =P10859-ND or http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSea ... =CT3011-ND with a built-in switch

HH pedal switch

Search for 'spdt toggle on-on' and then choose the cheapest you like. E.g. http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSea ... =EG2350-ND

LCD
ebay

And the DB25 and DB9 port to program? May I grub one from an old printer? …

Of course you can.

I don't know how to sort items by price at DigiKey so my examples are not the cheapest.

RS-online is not just online. They have shops all over the world. If you live close by one you'll save the postage.
Here's a link to their 3-way jacks

Wow, perfect!

I'll profit to ask you another couple of pieces:

Hi Hat LED: 67-2061-ND
Do we need high brightness or another led as megadrum's is sufficient? Which anglein every case is to prefere?

Hi Hat Phototransistor: QSE113-ND
The current dark is a bit high, is it a problem?

The connectors
DB-09: 209FE-ND
DB-25: 225ME-ND
Is it a problem for both the thickness flash?

For the guidelines I understand what you say, I was proposing it just because it cost to me many many days to find and compare every component (I'm not skilled at all), so this could be very useful for people like me that will come in future... and also because this list is complete, for exemple of 4851. But you can decide as you prefer, no problem

Again, best
thank you

Both should be ok.

The connectors
DB-09: 209FE-ND
DB-25: 225ME-ND

As long as the connector fits a Serial/LPT port on your PC it is ok.

Hi again,
I have few doubts about 4851

Circuit: 1x8:1, right?
Power supply: single or dual?
Current supply: which value (I have alternatives between 2, 8 or 16 uA)

The products I'm referring to are:
296-15741-5-ND
MM74HC4051N-ND
MC74HC4051ANGOS-ND

I know you already told me that the first one was ok, but I was a bit worried, because they are quickly finishing and they could not order them anymore (as it happened with another similar product)

thanks for patience

I do suggest you to use 4851 ICs if you can. But if you like, you can use any 4051 including the last two.
