Problems with lcd and drivers.

Postby Dudah » Wed Apr 29, 2009 10:58 am

Hello,

I ordered a MegaDrum kit from Synthex. After assembling I started testing it.
I ran into 2 problems.

The first is really easy to fix I guess.
I`m running Win XP lite edition and it doesn't contain the usb drivers.
Does anyone know if it's possible to download these drivers somewhere ?

The second problem is a bit harder to fix I guess.
The lcd won't function propperly.
I get a < on the lcd and nothing else.
I checked all the connections and components and they are all good.
I also checked for shorts but everything is right.
The Atmega 32 has a nice stable 5 v (measured with osciloscope)
But I think the problem is with the crystal osscilator. When I measure pin 12 and 13 I get an dc voltage of 850 mV (also measured with osciloscope). I tried replacing the crystal and I also tried another Atmega 32 but both give the same problem. I also replaced the 2 22pF capacitors but it didn't solve the problem.

The crystal is 16 MHz.
And the kit is Synthex all in one v2.8.
The osciloscope is fast enought to measure the 16 MHz so that shouldn't be the problem.

Thanks in advance.

edit:

Nevermind the second problem. Tried a third Atmega and it works... Now I only need to find some drivers for Win XP lite.

Thanks but it didn't help.

The problem is in the lite version of Windows XP they have deleted a lot of useless stuf. But they also deleted some drivers. Including the usb drivers needed for MegaDrum. I already have Windows XP sp3 installed. I also have an original Windows XP cd so that should theoreticly contain the drivers. Now I only need to find out which drivers are needed for MegaDrum

Megadrum works fine with the standard XP USB sub system.

When you plug in Megadrum you should at least see an exclamation mark next to unknown/unrecognised hardware in the device manager. Update this driver from your original Windows XP cd using the resolution method in 'that' link above.

Making a lite OS is a very good idea performance wise.

Why not try nLite?

Also tried that. Still doesn't work.
When I plug it in on another computer without Windows XP lite it works perfectly. But on the computer with XP lite it does recognize MegaDrum MIDI USB but it can't find the drivers. Even when I tell to look on the win xp cd.
I think I have to manually tell it which drivers are needed. But I don't know which drivers I should use.
